Daniela Fally | Soprano.
Daniela Fally was born in Lower Austria and finished her degree in opera studies at the Vienna University of Music and the Performing Arts with distinction (class of Helena Lazarska, lied and oratorio with Edith Mathis). Prior to this she completed courses in theatre studies, musical comedy and acting, with a final diploma in the performing arts (likewise with distinction). For her exceptional achievements during her vocal studies she was awarded the “Würdigungs Preis” (Award of Distinction) of the University of Music and the Performing Arts.
Daniela Fally has trodden the boards since she was nineteen years of age, at first in straight theatre, later in musical comedy and eventually in opera.
In June 2006 she was awarded the Eberhard Waechter Medal for Singing for her interpretation of Adele (Die Fledermaus).
She has been under contract to the Vienna State Opera since the 2009/10 season, where she has performed such roles as Zerbinetta (Ariadne), Sophie (Rosenkavalier), Oscar (Ballo in maschera), Rosina (Barbiere di Siviglia), Fiakermilli (Arabella), the Italian singer (Capriccio) and as Adele (Fledermaus. Before this she was a member of the Volksoper ensemble for four years (2005-2009), which gave her the opportunity of working through a wide-ranging repertoire in the house.
Guest engagements have taken Daniela Fally to many other houses, including the Bregenz Festival, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf, the Opera Royal de Wallonie in Liège, the Klagenfurt Stadttheater, the Bavarian State Opera Munich, the Zürich Opera House, the Semperoper in Dresden and the Hamburg State Opera.
She has sung in concerts and recitals at the Lucerne Festival and several times at the Vienna Musikverein, also at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, the Stefaniesaal in Graz, the Salzburg Arena, the Grosser Kongresssal in Innsbruck, the Hamburg Musikhalle, the Prinzregententheater in Munich, and in Switzerland, Japan, China and Dubai.
Daniela Fally has worked with renowned conductors, including Adam Fischer, Asher Fisch, Leopold Hager, Julia Jones, Philippe Jordan, Simone Young, Ulf Schirmer, Peter Schneider, Nicolaus Harnoncourt and Franz Welser-Möst.
Aside from her extensive repertoire in lied, her most important roles in opera include Blonde (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Marie (La fille du régiment), Norina (Don Pasquale), Olympia (Les contes d’Hoffmann), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos), Fiakermilli (Arabella), Oscar (Ballo in Maschera), Titania (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), and the role she was born to play, Adele (Die Fledermaus).
